A driveway is a part of a home that many people often forget. You roll up, park your car, then head inside and forget about the driveway until you step outside once more.

But driveways are often the largest part of your home’s face and if it’s falling into a state of cracks and debris, then it might be time to consider an upgrade.

A resin driveway might be an option for you – a great looking, colourful answer to your crumbling driveway and one that requires almost no maintenance.

Here are some signs that your current driveway may be in need of replacement.

Cracks and Splits

As mentioned above, a driveway with cracks in it can quickly lead to first impressions being damages, and increased risk of tripping over and injury.

Cracks can happen for a number of reasons although the two primary reasons are both temperature related. Heat in summer months can cause expansion of concrete or tarmac, leading to cracks where the surface can no longer expand.

On the other hand, cold winter months can see water within these cracks freeze up which in turn leads to further expansion and cracks.

Drainage Issues

Old driveways can start to collect surface water where the drainage is no longer sufficient and puddles start to form. This water can contribute to the cracks due to the freezing mentioned above, but can also impact grass and other surroundings.

A resin driveway such as our PermaDrive solution can assist drainage due to their unique compound and structure leaving almost no standing water on the surface.

Colour Loss

Is the general colour fading on your driveway? Perhaps when it was installed you had super vibrant brickwork but now it’s a faded view due to constant exposure to the sun. Whilst the driveway may still function well, it can be a drab to look at and colour loss is a big sign your driveway is past it’s prime.

Newer resin bound driveways again have unique properties to make them have greater resistance to UV light and help retain their colour for much longer.

Usual Wear and Tear

It’s not uncommon for any driveway to just suffer the standard wear and tear expected for a heavy-traffic area. Small holes and disfigurement may be visible in many areas of your driveway which if left untreated could lead to greater issues beyond repair.

If you think this is the case, it may simply be time to look into upgrading your driveway.

Short term fixes are available but in the long run, it may be a more cost effective option to chose a resin driveway.
